Actually Trent, I would not call it insanity.  Rather it is the ability to look at something and think that there must be a better way, and then to figure out a way to do it.  I did spend a long time searching the net for a product that would suit my needs.  I never found one.  When that happens, I always wonder if and how I can do it myself, and from time to time, the answer is yes.  This is a case in point, and leather-working always did interest me.  It was a  nice case of a potential hobby dovetailing with a perceived need.

My dad is a machinist and made me a dial indicator setup for oboe. It's quite nice. The only thing I'd like to change is the plaque insert. He had it computer cut as close to one of my plaques as possible but it's uneven. Where would one get one of these commercially that go on all of the dial indicators being sold? Are they made by someone?
