Topic: Moosmann Spike alternative

Due to some increasing left-hand pain, I'm looking into using a spike for my bassoon. I've tried the Moosmann Spike and it's perfect for me. Unfortunately, I'm a musician and can't afford it. Fortunately, I'm a bassoonist and very crafty. So, I'm looking into building one myself.

I have found camera accessory ball-and-socket joints that withstand up to 30 pounds. The spike itself won't be hard to fabricate. The tricky part is the cup (or some way to attach it to the bassoon).

Anybody have an idea about how to fabricate such a cup?

I found this website:
http://www.bassoonspike.co.uk
There is a version with the spike in the middle of the cup looks like it could easily be modified with a ball-and-socket joint. I tried emailing R.A. James, but it got returned to me.

Does any know how I can get a hold of him? Or his spike?

Thanks

Yup, that's the one that bounced back to me. I tried another one I found on his site that seemed to work.... We'll see!
