Topic: Bruce Gbur Has Published Louis Lane's Sonata for Oboe!

Some of our younger members might not know Louis Lane.  He conducted in Cleveland during and after the Szell era.  He passed away a few years ago, and I know Bruce had been trying to track down the unpublished Oboe Sonata, and he did!!

Product Description

Louis Lane (1923-2016) spent the majority of his career as a conductor but earned degrees in composition before auditioning for George Szell and the Cleveland Orchestra in 1947. He studied with Kent Kennan, Bohuslav Martinu, and Bernard Rogers at the University of Texas, Tanglewood, and the Eastman School of Music, repectively. The Sonata for Oboe and Piano shows the rigorous contrapuntal training he received from Kennan. This is the first publication of this exciting work.
