Statement on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
The International Double Reed Society (IDRS) is committed to championing and celebrating diversity, equity, and inclusion in the worldwide double reed community through performance and educational opportunities, grants, and ensuring representation that reflects the richness of our multi-faceted membership.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Documents
With IDRS approaching its 50th Anniversary in 2021, the Society continues to work towards broadening access and inclusion while looking at our history to evaluate equity and diversity. In 2019, we issued our first Statement on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in addition to creating the IDRS Subcommittee on DEI. While we continue to assess, evaluate, and discuss the Society’s policies and procedures, the DEI Subcommittee has provided important suggestions. Below is a letter with recommendations from the Subcommittee on DEI and the response from the IDRS Executive Board. We all feel it is imperative to keep our membership appraised of the work going on as we move forward together.
