Double Reed Online

The latest news and event announcements from around the double reed world.

The last few weeks have been fantastic here at IDRS 2009 HQ! Registrations from all over the world have been flying in!

If you have already registered for the conference, then check out the great deals we have on hotel accommodation throughout the City. You can reserve a room by clicking here: http://www.visitbirmingham.com/double_reed_society/ or alternatively you can call the Accommodation hotline on +44 (0)121 202 5005. All hotels are within the city centre, and many have reduced their rates EVEN FURTHER for the conference week! All accommodation is to be paid on arrival to the hotel, and are all within 15 mins walk maximum of the Conservatoire (most within a 5min walk).

If you want to stay in budget/student accommodation, then you can click here: http://www.ellis-salsby.co.uk/events/?eid=64 and reserve a room in the Opal One Student Accommodation for just £126 for the whole week. Please note, this is a 25min walk away from the Conservatoire (or a 5min bus ride).

Our wonderful friends at visitbirmingham.com have also compiled a whole load of very special IDRS 2009 discounts that can used throughout the conference week. From discounts in resturants, to tourist attractions to nightclubs – there’s something here for everyone! http://www.visitbirmingham.com/double_reed_society/

We are also very excited that, following his performance at the Barbirolli International Oboe Competition, french oboist David Walter will be giving a recital on Saturday 25th July in the Recital Hall!

Finally, do check out the fabulous IDRS 2009 website on your lunchbreak today! We’ve just uploaded our next interview in our Featured Artist series. This weeks interview is with bassoonist Lorelei Dowling. http://www.idrs2009.org/attend-the-conference/featured-artists
