    Does anyone have suggestions for bassoon and percussion pieces? My bassoon studio is sharing a recital with a percussionist and we’d like to incorporate some pieces together. I’m looking for pieces for 1 percussionist and from 1 to 4 bassoonists. Level should be easy to moderate.

    I’ve already began to look at some pieces by Chihara, Maslanka, and Beurden.

    This probably isn’t what you’re looking for, (it requires several percussionists) but it’s a very interesting piece written by a good composer. Voice for bassoon and percussion was recently composed by Stephen Melillo, and is interesting in the fact that you can either play it as a piece for four bassoons, or layer tracks down with recording software such as Protools and present it as a solo. There are also two versions (depending on difficulty level) making it more open for students. The link to Melillo’s PDF file can be found below.
