Bio: George Goslee is a native of the Clevelandarea. He attended the Eastman School of Music and studied with Vincent Pezzi. He was a member of the Rochester Philharmonic and the Indianapolis Symphony and acting principal bassoon of the Philadelphia Orchestra while Sol Schoenbach was in the military. His main position, however, was as principal bassoon of the Cleveland Orchestra and professor of bassoon at the Cleveland Institute of Music. His many performances and recordings with the orchestra, under George Szell's direction, are still well known today. In 1990, Goslee retired from the orchestra after nearly 50 years. His career was distinguished by his artistry and teaching excellence.
