Bio: Laila Storch, recently retired from the University of Washington, Seattle, was a charter member of the Soni Ventorum Wind Quintet, a remarkable teacher and oboe soloist, and a longtime member and contributor to the IDRS. Laila was the first woman oboist to graduate from the Curtis Institute in Philadelphia where she studied with the great Marcel Tabuteau. She has played with the National Symphony, the Kansas City Philharmonic, the Houston Symphony, the Mozarteum Orchestra, Salzburg, and the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra. Laila has served on committees of the IDRS on several occasions with both distinction and honor. Her contributions to our publications and frequent performances have been inspirational to younger artists at several IDRS Conferences.
