Bio: Mordechai Rechtman, for many years principal bassoonist of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra was also outstanding as a teacher and master class lecturer. Moreover, he has written many wonderful arrangements of great com-positions for wind quintet and large wind ensembles. Mordechai has performed and taught at such prestigious festivals as Tanglewood, Spoleto, Marlboro, and the Puerto Rico Casals Festival. He was bassoon instructor for several summers for the National Youth Orchestra of Canada, was professor of music at Indiana University from 1977-78, and served as professor of music at the Rubin Academy of Music in Tel-Aviv until his recent retirement. Mordechai has also served on juries for the IDRS Gillet Competition and in other exemplary ways has contributed to our society.
