Bio: Gerald Corey is the principal bassoonist of Canada's National Arts Centre Orchestra, Ottawa, since 1972. He has also held principal bassoon positions with the Baltimore and Vancouver Symphony Orchestras. He is a past participant of the Marlboro Music Festival, where he performed chamber music with Rudolf Serkin and recorded orchestral music with Pablo Casals and Marcel Moyse, and where he studied wind music interpretation with Marcel Moyse. Mr. Corey founded and edited the newsletter, To The World's Bassoonists. Interest in this publication encouraged the foundation of the International Double Reed Society. Mr. Corey is a past president and former editor of bassoon publications for the IDRS. He is currently professeur de basson at the Conservatoire de Musique du Québec in Montréal, Canada; and he has been since 1972 lecturer in Bassoon, Recorder and Chamber Music for the Department of Music, University of Ottawa. Gerald Corey has given master classes at: Costa Rica, University of Costa Rica at Sante Fé, Salt Lake City, Utah, Leipzig, Germany, Hochschule für Musik Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Affinis Fifth Music Seminar, Iida and Tokyo, Japan. He has served on the Juries for International Solo Bassoon Concours at: Geneva, Switzerland, Toulon, France, Frankfurt, Germany.
