Bio: Norma Hooks has been an active member of the IDRS for many years and has served as Secretary for the past four years. During that time she has also held the position of exhibit coordinator for the Society. She served several years on the honorary membership committee and was a co-host of the 1992 Conference in Towson, Maryland. She is the newly appointed Executive Secretary/Treasurer of the Society and will assume her responsibilities later this year. Norma is a private teacher and member of the adjunct faculty of Western Maryland College. She plays bassoon in the college woodwind quintet and is principal bassoon of the Columbia Orchestra in Columbia, Maryland and the Encore Orchestra in Westminster. She is also a freelance performer in the area. Norma studied bassoon with Edward Gobrecht in Baltimore and Homer Pence at Ball State. For the past 13 years she helped coordinate the John Miller Bassoon Symposium, first with Gene Griswold at Towson, Maryland and then with Renee Dee in Wooster, Ohio.
