Bio: James Rae McKay (bassoon) is chair of the applied music performance department at the University of Western Ontario and music director of Symphony Hamilton. Active as a bassoonist, conductor, adjudicator, and acoustic researcher, he has performed widely as a soloist, chamber musician, orchestral player, and studio musician. McKay is featured as a bassoonist on recordings by RCA Victor and Golden Crest and as a concerts on CBC, CJRT, and PBS. A founding member of the York Winds, he performs internationally as a member of the flute-bassoon-piano trio Triptych and. appears as a soloist or conductor at many North American music festivals.
