Bio: Richard Ranti (bassoon) is associate principal bassoonist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, principal bassoonist with the Boston Pops, and a faculty member of the Boston University School for the Arts. He is frequently heard as a chamber musician in the Boston and Berkshire areas, including appearances with Boston University's Endymion Quintet. Ranti won the second bassoon position in the Phildelphia Orchestra at age 19 and played there for six years, his last year as associate principal. He has performed at the Spoleto and Marlboro Music Festivals and the Berkshire Music Center in Tanglewood. Winner of second prize in the Toulon International Bassoon Competition, Ranti has appeared as soloist in a New York Philharmonic young people's concert and has received two Canada Council grants. He studied with Sidney Rosenberg, David Carroll, and Robert Barris at lnterlochen Arts Academy and with Sol Schoenbach at the Curtis Institute.
