Bio: Carl Rath (bassoon) is principal bassoonist with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic and Norman Chamber Orchestras and a faculty member of the University of Oklahoma. Principal bassoonist with the Classical Music Festival Orchestra in Eisenstadt, Austria, he also teaches and performs at the Red Lodge Music Festival in Montana. Rath's solo and orchestral performances have taken him throughout the United States as well as to Austria, England, Hungary, and Italy. A quarter-finalist in the Concert Artist Guild International Competition, he has been heard on National Public Radio's Performance Today and Europe's ORF. He made his New York debut at Weill Recital Hall with the Oklahoma Woodwind Quintet and arranged two works on the quintet's Christmas CD. Rath received a BM with distinction in performance from Lawrence University and an MA in bassoon performance from the University of Denver.
