Bio: Karel Bidlo, 88, former principal bassoon of the Czech Philharmonic and distinguished Professor of Bassoon and Chamber Music at the Prague Conservatory died on July 13, 1992 in Prague. His landmark early recording of the Mozart Bassoon Concerto, as well as subsequent recordings of the Weber Concerto and Vivaldi Concerti displayed his great musicianship and artistry. He first came to the Czech Philharmonic in 1930 as a young man and remained with them until his retirement. As Professor at the Conservatory he taught over two generations of Czechoslovakian bassoonists.
