Bio: Gonzalo Ruiz (oboe) performs and records with baroque ensembles throughout the United States including Philharmonic Baroque Orchestra, American Bach Soloists, Boston Handel & Haydn Society and the Portland Baroque Orchestra. A prizewinner at the 1993 International Early Music Competition in Bruges, Belgium, he regularly appears in chamber groups and as soloist and recently gave the contemporary premiere of an oboe concerto by Giuseppe Tartini. He was born in Argentina where he served as principal oboe of the Buenos Ares Philharmonic at Teatro Colon. Mr. Ruiz is on the faculty of the Baroque Performance Institute in Oberlin College. His teachers include Marc Lifschey, James Caldwell and Gene Montooth.
