Past IDRS Officers – 1972 to Present

The following is a compilation of all the Officers who have served the International Double Reed Society since the first slate of candidates was elected in 1972. As the Constitution of the Society has evolved, so have these various offices. Some have been added, some consolidated, and some dropped over the years.

Elected-Positions

(In the original IDRS Constitution, this position was defined as two offices: Recording Secretary and Corresponding Secretary. In 1977, the role of the Corresponding Secretary was taken over by the Treasurer. In 1984, the Treasurer/ Corresponding Secretary position itself changed to become the Executive Secretary/Treasurer).

In order to have better representation of the membership in general on the Executive Committee of the Society, the Constitution was changed in 1995 to add two new voting positions. In 2009, a third Member-At-Large (Business) was added to the voting members of the Executive Committee.

Originally this was an elected position. As the Society grew, the workload of keeping membership and finances updated and current led to the creation of the Executive Secretary/Treasurer position in 1984. In 2018, the position of Executive Secretary/Treasurer was split into two interim roles of Membership Coordinator and Administrative Director/Treasurer.

This position was created in 2017 to handle communications and public relations for the Society. Responsibilities include managing the society’s social media properties and creation and implementation of a regular newsletter.
