Assistant Professor of Oboe (Colorado State University)

Description:

The School of Music, Theatre, and Dance at Colorado State University invites applications and nominations for the position of Assistant Professor of Oboe. This is a tenure-track, nine-month appointment, beginning August 16, 2024.


Additional Details:

Primary responsibilities will include teaching, recruiting, and maintaining an undergraduate and graduate Oboe studio. The successful candidate will be expected to continue an active performing career, both outside of the university and within the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance. Additional teaching responsibilities will be assigned based on the candidate’s training and/or experience in an additional area of music such as coaching chamber music groups, woodwind methods, music appreciation/history, music theory, music industry, or music education.

Required qualifications:
- Masters in Music Degree in Oboe.
- Documented evidence of 2 years successful college teaching experience in studio lessons and applied Oboe.
- Evidence of excellence in Oboe artistry and the potential for continued advancement as a performer.
- Demonstrated ability to create strategies for recruiting and maintaining appropriate numbers of quality students within an Oboe studio and build relationships with PK-12 educators in the state of Colorado.
- Evidence of ability to enhance the School’s commitment to diversity and inclusion, and implement strategies for working with diversity initiatives and/or underrepresented populations.
- Effective written communication and organizational skills.
