The School of Music at The University of Florida invites applicants for an Assistant Professor in Oboe and Aural Skills. This is a tenure-track, nine-month appointment, beginning August 16, 2024.

SALARY RANGE:
$61,000-$63,000 Commensurate with qualification and experience; comprehensive and highly competitive leave and benefits package eligible
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Recruit and instruct undergraduate and graduate students in applied oboe
-Instruct courses in the undergraduate Aural Skills sequence
-Maintain active national and international creative research profile in oboe, consistent with expectation of tenure and promotion
-Participate in shared governance through service to the School, College, and University
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
-ABD, or MM with additional commensurate experience, one advanced degree must be in oboe performance
-Evidence of potential to develop a national or international reputation in oboe performance, consistent with university expectations for tenure and promotion
-Experience and demonstrated effectiveness in teaching applied oboe
-Demonstrated capacity for effective recruitment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-Earned doctorate in oboe performance
-Experience teaching applied oboe and related courses in higher education
-Experience teaching Aural Skills courses in higher education
-A degree, cognate, or significant graduate coursework in music theory
-Demonstrated aptitude for working toward structural and strategic change, particularly in relationship to open intellectual discourse, and the well-being of all in a context of cultural and ideological difference.
