IDRS Conference Poster Session Competition

Poster sessions are an informal format for presenting research or creative activity of interest to double reed players. Widely used in the academic community, posters summarize information or research concisely to create engagement and generate discussion. The poster is usually a mixture of a brief text mixed with tables, graphs, pictures, and other presentation formats.

How to apply:

IDRS members will submit proposals to participate in the poster session on the conference proposal form. Presenters will be selected by the Conference Artistic Committee and notified with other conference proposal notifications. If accepted, the presenter agrees to stand by their poster display for at least two total hours during the conference at an assigned time. Poster creation, printing, and transportation is the responsibility of the presenter. While submissions will be allowed from double reed players of all levels are welcome, proposals from students (undergraduate and graduate) will be especially encouraged. Submission of posters that have been used in other conference poster sessions (such as university student research showcases) are allowed.

Evaluation Procedures:

IDRS members will be given the opportunity to sign up to judge conference posters. Judging will take around two hours of time, with periods allowed to review posters without students present and another for talking to assigned presenters at their posters. Judges will have the opportunity to read their assigned presentation abstracts ahead of time. Judges will assess entrants using a carefully designed and generalized rubric, which will be made available to presenters ahead of time, to thoroughly evaluate presentations in all areas of research, scholarship, and creative activities. The judging rubric facilitates constructive evaluations of presentation and research quality in areas including poster design, presentation delivery, background for and objectives of the project, research methods planned or utilized, and results expected or obtained.
