Lindsey Wiehl, bassoon
While the name of composer Katherine Hoover (1937-2018) is not as widely known as some of her contemporaries, her works remain sonically compelling and theoretically exciting. Her composition for bassoon and piano, Journey (2009) explores ways in which journeys present themselves in our lives. While her compositions are gaining recognition, her compositional path was initially riddled with uncertainty and a lack of encouragement.
