Although a significant number of womxn composers are engaging in compositional pursuits such as writing, publishing, performing, and recording classical music, deficiencies within the repertoire remain pronounced: specifically, diversity of composers writing for bassoon. In order to reconcile this, we have formed the Silent Voices Project, engaging in a series of commissions, presentations, and recitals to promote emerging womxn composers. We hope today’s interview and performance shed light on the rich repertoire available through such diversity, encouraging those in attendance to pursue similar diversity in their repertoire choices.
