Remember that each key adds weight, which is heavier to hold and can dampen resonance.

Additionally, you really want to be cautious when drilling holes into an already adjusted bassoon. Tuning and voicing a bassoon is a very complex endeavor; sometimes once the new tone hole has been added it can throw the rest of the instrument out of adjustment.

Best bet is to try an instrument that already has those keys added and see if you think that it’s really worth the expense to you. Then you’ll know for sure.
