Hi Tom,

Personally, and from my own experience, the matching of
the shaper tool to the profiler is (more) paramount than the
gouger (inner reed) / profiler (outer reed) “mix”. Obviously,
if the longitudinal maximum of both machining results don’t
work together, you have a problem, but still apples and oranges…

None of the products you mention ring a bell as having problems
with longevity or outright quality, and some have been
around for quite a while!

Both the Mark Popkin, and the “Herzberg Projects” shaper/profiler
sets are designed to mitigate the shaper tool/profiler issues.

By all means, let us know what you choose as best for you!
