    Hi,

I tried some Legere bassoon reeds yesterday, medium hard. They played well, but they did not fit all the way on the bocal as I’m used to. And they were a bit low in pitch for my taste.

Has anyone tried to ream a Legere bassoon reed with success?

    Yours Bernhard

I have reamed legere reeds successfully. Be gentle and go slowly. Make sure you are using a sharp quality reamer.

It is also possible to clip a Legere. I think you’ll find advice on the Legere website. Don’t just stick it in a Rieger or equivalent tip clipper — there’s more to it, to keep it from cracking.
