The Solaris Wind Quintet will perform the Arnold Schoenberg Quintet, Op. 26, on Sunday, November 22, 2009, at 5:30pm in Guzzetta Recital Hall, 139 E. Buchtel Ave., at The University Of Akron, 44325-1002.  The concert, titled “A Viennese Salon,” will present the Schoenberg Quintet in the historical/cultural context of the 1920’s in Vienna with poetry and art by Kandinsky and popular music by Kurt Weill and Louis Armstrong. Members of Solaris (Quintet-in-residence at The University Of Akron) are Kristina Belisle Jones, clarinet, Cynthia Watson, oboe, Barrick Stees, bassoon, George Pope, flute, and William Hoyt, horn. Solaris will be joined by Megan Elk, mezzo soprano, and members of The New World Performance Laboratory, also in residence at UA. Digital videoscape acompaniment by The Cosmicswandive, a media art team from Eunsu Kang’s New Media class of The Myers School of Art at UA.

Solaris will be performing in The Rocky River Artist Concert Series on Sunday, February 28, 2010.  Their recently recorded CD of Scott Joplin Rags should be available in Spring of 2010.
