2027 Commissioning Grant Application Form
This application form applies to performers who have already submitted a single work or recital performance proposal for the 2027 Conference.
The 50 for 50 grant is open to 2027 IDRS Conference recital applicants whose proposal includes the commissioning and premiere of a solo or chamber music work for any double reed instrument(s).
In aligning with the mission of the project to diversify the double reed repertoire, the committee will promote commissions from composers from traditionally underrepresented groups (including, but not limited to intersectional identities such as race, gender, sexuality, disability, age) in the selection process, though any conference applicant may apply. Preference will be given to performers and composers who have not previously received a 50 for 50 Grant.
Up to six Commissioning Grants of $1,000, $750 or $500 will be awarded. This money must be used to assist in the fulfillment of the composer’s fee and will be paid directly to the composer no later than September 2027. Each work will be premiered at the IDRS Conference at Washington State University in Pullman, Washington, USA, June 2-6, 2027. The applicant is solely responsible for the commissioning relationship with the composer and for providing any assisting musicians (with the exception of collaborative pianists, who may be requested through IDRS). The awarded composer is not required to attend the premiere, but will agree to adhere to the current IDRS recording use policy.
Deadline for application form submissions: October 15th, 2026
