IDRS Student Conference Scholarship

IDRS Student Conference Scholarship

In continuation of the IDRS Sponsor-a-Member program’s mission to create access for hard-to-reach segments of the double reed community by reducing financial obstacles to quality, professional resources, the International Double Reed Society (IDRS) has established the IDRS Student Conference Scholarship. For more information contact Alba Moreno at sam@idrs.org

Terms and conditions

The IDRS Student Conference Scholarship will support the success of at least two student IDRS members (including at least one oboist and one bassoonist) through a one-time, need-based conference attendance scholarship. The selected winners will demonstrate financial need, leadership skills, and a commitment to musical excellence. The award will include:

  • IDRS student digital membership for one year if the recipient is not already a member.
  • Conference Registration. If the scholarship recipient has already registered for the 2024 conference, these fees will be reimbursed.
  • Student accommodation lodging for the duration of the conference.
  • A travel stipend.

Requirements and Eligibility:

The IDRS Student Conference Scholarship is open to students with demonstrated financial need who are currently pursuing private instruction or a music degree at a college, university, or conservatory with the oboe or bassoon as their primary instrument of study.

  • Past winners of an IDRS conference scholarship may not apply.
  • The recipient must have a visa to travel before they are reimbursed if they reside outside of the United States.
  • All students awarded an IDRS Student Conference Scholarship will be required to submit a brief report to IDRS about their experience at the 2024 conference before September 1, 2024. These reports may be published in The Double Reed.
