The University of Akron School of Music, comprised of 441 music majors, is searching for a dynamic teacher and performer capable of recruiting and maintaining a vibrant bassoon studio. Full time, non-tenure track position to start August 2010. For optimum consideration, your complete file should be received by April 5, 2010, but screening will continue until the position is filled.

Duties: Teach graduate and undergraduate applied bassoon and studio classes, including repertoire and pedagogy, reed-making, and chamber ensembles. Additional duties may include teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the candidate’s area of expertise, or as assigned by the Chair of the School of Music. Contribute to an active community of faculty and students by engaging in local, state, regional and national performing activities; including performing with Solaris, a faculty quintet in residence at The University of Akron.

Qualifications: Master of Music degree and successful teaching and performing experience required. Doctorate of Musical Arts or Ph.D in music (bassoon) preferred.
