A brief biography:

Kinsten Rought is a freelance oboist based in the Twin Cities. In 2025, she received her Master's in Music at the University of Oklahoma under the study of Dr. Shawn Welk. As a student, she participated in the Audax Reed Quintet, which made it to the semifinals of the North American Saxophone Alliance. In 2023, she graduated from Bemidji State University receiving a Bachelor's of Science in Music Education under the study of Heather Guidry. As a student, Kinsten won the Carl O. Thompson Competition and performed with the BSU Wind Ensemble. During both degrees, she performed with a variety of large ensembles, chamber groups, and taught beginning oboists. Currently, she performs with a variety of community groups and teaches private lessons.

  • I hereby authorize the release of my performance at the IDRS 2026 conference for non-commercial use by conference attendees and IDRS members. This includes audio recordings and video recordings for the IDRS archives and website.
