A brief biography:

1969 SoCal, film about double reeds. Smitten. Too expensive.
2007 Vancouver. Rented Oboe, started lessons.
In six months, Principal Oboe for community concert band.
2011 First paid gig: 12-show run of Gilbert and Sullivan.
2011-2017 Paid gigs, played for worship, in hospitals, care homes, as a Hospital Chaplain.
2015 Appendicitis
2018 invasive abdominal surgery
Always asking: "Will I be able to play the Oboe after this?"
2022 Paid Art Gallery gig, performed in orchestras, bands. Played Suona, Toronto Chinese Orchestra
2023 Hit by a car. More rehab!
Today, confidently applying for an IDRS Masterclass.

  • I hereby authorize the release of my performance at the IDRS 2026 conference for non-commercial use by conference attendees and IDRS members. This includes audio recordings and video recordings for the IDRS archives and website.
