A brief biography:

Kian Hyatt is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Bassoon Performance at the University of Iowa, where she studies with Benjamin Coelho. She studied at the Cleveland Institute of Music with Barrick Stees, where she performed in a woodwind quintet and bassoon quartet, appearing in concerts and outreach performances. She is the second bassoonist of the Knox-Galesburg Symphony and performs regularly as a substitute with orchestras throughout the region. A two-time winner of the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra’s Young Artist Competition, she soloed with the orchestra in Mozart’s Bassoon Concerto in B-flat at age 18 and appeared on NPR’s From the Top at 16. She currently serves on the faculty of the Five Seasons Chamber Festival.
